About Drew
Drew Clayton is a technology leader, product management executive, writer, photographer, surfer, and lover of all things food and travel.
In past lives, his writing has been published in national magazines and major media websites. He's also led teams in digital development for companies like Nexstar Digital, Los Angeles Times, Tribune Publishing, and Disney.
He loves grammar, spelling, and serial commas.
Working with the diligent reporters and editorial staffs of Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, and other major metropolitan news organizations has been among the greatest and most humbling honors and duties of my life. I support a free press for the good and longevity of our union.
The halls of Tribune Tower, former home to Chicago's fabled bastion of advocacy for the people is etched with quotes on truth, justice, and journalism. Below are a few of the ones that that resonated most deeply with me as I did my part to uphold their values.
OUR LIBERTY DEPENDS
ON THE FREEDOM OF THE PRESS
AND THAT CAN NOT BE LIMITED
WITHOUT BEING LOST. -- Thomas Jefferson
-- Thomas Jefferson
AND YE SHALL KNOW THE TRUTH,
AND THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE.
-- St. John 8:32
CONGRESS SHALL MAKE NO LAW RESPECTING AN ESTABLISHMENT OF RELIGION, OR PROHIBITING THE FREE EXERCISE THEREOF; OR ABRIDGING THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH, OR OF THE PRESS; OR THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE PEACEABLY TO ASSEMBLE, AND TO PETITION THE GOVERNMENT FOR A REDRESS OF GRIEVANCES.
-- First Amendment to the Constitution
A FREE PRESS STANDS AS ONE OF THE GREAT INTERPRETERS BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT AND THE PEOPLE. TO ALLOW IT TO BE FETTERED IS TO FETTER OURSELVES.
-- George Sutherland,
Associate Justice, U.S. Supreme Court
